A Note From the Artist
Victoria Jamieson-McCaskill
I create art to make myself happy. Being a daydreamer with an incredibly active imagination, filled with rich fantasy, is what drives me to be an artist. My preferred mediums for creating change like the weather. Photography, watercolour, acrylic, polymer clay, digital art. My creative process is ever changing.
My personal motto is “Better done than perfect”. My attitude may seem lackadaisical, which to some, is a bad thing. I do not agree. Rather than getting too hung up on tiny details, my creative process is all about enjoying creation and admiring the final product. I am not lacking in passion, no not at all. I feel that I can pour myself into the creation of a project, and once that outpouring of creativity is done, so to is the project. I do not regret leaving things slightly imperfect. Nothing in life is perfect.

Completion over perfection in regards to working with a client is very important. Too often designers and artists get hung up on finishing something to their own sense of perfection whilst allowing the clients input to fall to the wayside. I think above all else (including my own sense of perfection) the clients wishes should be the number one priority of any collaborative project, and getting something done well and on time is the most important goal
The beauty of my creative process is that I never quite know when inspiration will strike but I aspire to maintain a feeling of wonder when experiencing everyday life. Driving, eating, discussing, and dreaming. The tiniest detail of an experience can push me to create something new. My favourite works are generally depictions of everyday objects shown in extraordinary ways. Inspired by whimsical, magical, surreal environments. It is important for me to look at the world through irreverent eyes. Nothing is too serious to be turned into art.
